This time tomorrow Dan and I will be married!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In the morning—early early morning I leave for Seattle. Due to recent events this trip has become even more excited if it is possible because…..Dan and I will be moving to Seattle a week after the wedding.
Today marks 50 days until the wedding. Yes I have a countdown going- I started at day 94. We’re moving pretty quickly towards the end of the countdown. And yesterday is the one year anniversary to mark the evening that Dan proposed to me. How exciting!
Dan and I had our first premarital session with Jeff and Krista Parrett on Sunday afternoon. We ate garlic pizza, Krista’s famous cookies and grapes. Deliciousness. We both got embarassed when we were asked to tell them why we loved and wanted to marry each other and hear what the other said. I think I blushed quite a bit.

We had this huge plan to buy inflatable or foam bats and take them with us. A little something to help release our anger, but we ran out of time and didn’t get to the store in time. Oh well, maybe one day we’ll be able to find some in time to go to the Parrett’s house. Maybe we’ll even buy them a set so they can have it for their own arguements.
Dan and I bought plane tickets for a few weeks from today to go to Portland Oregon. We leave Feb. 22 and come back on a red-eye the night of the 25th and arrive back in the Cuse on the 26th.
I’ve never ever ever been to the West Coast. The furthest out I’ve been is New Mexico. But we are going to visit Grandma and Grandpa Young and I’m really excited. I’ve never met any of the Young family and most likely the Grandparents will not be able to attend Dan’s and my Wedding, so this will be an awesome trip.
I just hope this all isn’t some evil plan that Dan has put together in order to get me out of the Coast to never return again— He’ll have me only a few hours from his Beloved Seattle and I just don’t know how crazy he’ll go when he has me that close– close enough to kidnap me and tie me to the top of the Space Needle.
Who knows, maybe McDreamy(Grey’s Anatomy) will be there to rescue me ![]()
Sister Cate’s was in town till yesterday afternoon, so Monday we decided to go and try on some wedding dresses. I’d totally already planned on having it made so we ventured off intending to simply make sure that style of dress would work out for me.
Momma, Cate, Sara Young (Dan’s sister) and Sarah Z and I headed out. Because Sarah needed to meet us there, I didn’t want to drive out to Liverpool or anything right away. The closest place was David’s Bridal. And let me remind you and myself of the irony of this decision. Since Dan and I have been engaged I have vowed not to buy a dress from David’s Bridal. But we went there anyway.
With 5 of us working at it, we had a pile of like 20 dresses in only a matter of minutes. Mostly all the dresses we had I wasn’t all that interested in but thought it would be fun to try them on anyways. After trying on like 6 or 7 dresses someone brought me a Mother of the Bride Dress that I adored!! It was the style I was looking for, but it was a peach color. Hindsight is 20/20 because when my mom uploaded all the pictures on the computer later, I looked naked in that very same dress!!! So grateful they talked me out of it. It would have been terrible and disastrous and horrifying!!!!
Once, after the naked dress, we got back to the original style I was looking for, Catie went to the Galina section of the store. The section we should have been searching in the first place. She brought back 3-4 dresses and it that small pile, we found it!!!!
Catie also picked out a dress for her to wear to the wedding, it goes perfectly with my dress.
And back to my vow—— it definitely doesn’t look like a typical David’s Bridal dress or a David’s Bridal dress at all—- which it great. And it was on sale- $299 to $249!!!! And it won’t have to be tailored to fit.
Mom and Cate made a movie sideshow of the process and put it to the song “She’s a Rebel” by Green Day- It goes perfectly.
I was talking to Mom Cate and Michelle (who made her own veil last year) and I think I or we are going to try to make a veil similar to the one that went with the dress.
It was fun and fulfilling to know that we found the perfect dress in like 3 hours on our first day searching.
Kim to Dan—”Don’t worry, you’re mom can come shopping with us next time, I’ll make sure of it. Plus who buys a dress on their first search? No one, that’s who.” Sometimes I have to eat my words
