Spontaneous Sunflower

One Platypus’ Journey.

Limited Internet Use

Last Thursday evening I decided to move into Sarah B.’s and Cara’s apartment on FRIDAY. Nothing was packed but Betty, Van Gogh, Dan and I made it through– with a little help from Rob’s bright yellow pick-up truck. So I’m now on my own, again, living with Sarah and Rachel (Cara pays rent but doesn’t live there?) And in a few days we are moving from the 3rd floor to the 3nd floor. Cara and I will split the rent for one of the three bedrooms but I’ll be the one living there. By the way– the apartment is basically kiddy-corner to Boombabies right off of Westcott.  It’s amazing how Westcott is basically its own little nation in the middle of Syracuse.

The apartment doesn’t have internet use- but it does have a crazy lion’s footed tub and an old-school refrigerator with an ACTUAL ice box!!! Oh and it also has a nice assortment of BUGS that we are currently trying to KILL WITH GREAT FORCE– Rachel actually used a whole can of Raid in her bedroom last night in a matter of minutes- I walked on the carpet this morning in her room then went back out into the kitchen and could see my footsteps in Raid juice- Nasty!!

Birthday is coming up- Dan’s throwing me a little kid themed birthday party!!! And he is making me a rice-crispy castle cake and I’ll have a tiara.

Movies and Quilting

Mom and I spent last night watching “You, Me and Dupree” and “Man Of The Year” while cutting and working on Dan’s and my future quilt. I’d already seen the Owen Wilson movie but still found it absolutely hilarious. I so want to make a “BM” patch with a lightening bolt for Sara since she’s Dan’s Best Man.

“Man Of The Year” was a good movie- interesting political ideas. I think that I would totally support a candidate who refused to spend absolutely no money on media campaigning. I think a lot of people would.

Mom got her Swap Package from “Pierre” yesterday. A French theme with a cute blue and creme striped apron, Amelie soundtrack and a folder filled with recipes (even one that requires gizzards). Peter got Mom’s package yesterday too. Scarborough Fair themed, with a personalized “Peter’s Scarborough Fair” green apron, a booklet filled with trivia and recipes and a Romeo and Juliet cd.

The Swap is well on it’s way of continuing it’s super-fun nature. I sent mine on Thursday and can’t wait to hear the response!

Dan the Man has been at a Men’s Retreat all weekend and without a cell phone- his accidentally got canceled early because of out new joint cell phone plan. He comes home today. Andrew V. has also been gone all weekend so Sarah Z and I are having a girl’s day after church gets out.

“I’ll Be There For You”

She’s off and bound for Ethiopia.

Right now she’s flying over the ocean and on her way to Amsterdam. “But I don’t speak German!”

Tomorrow, 1pm my time she’ll be in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia— so freaking exciting!

Start checking out her new Dan-designed web site— likethemorningsun.com cause it is going to be great to watch her journey through the next 8-10 months.

Oh yeah if you haven’t figured it out yet, I’ve been talking about Kristin.

In Review:

Kristin leaves in 2 days. We’re frantically trying to figure out any way possible to trade in her desktop for a laptop. Apparently people use laptops in Ethiopia, who knew? :)

Mom and I watched Rent on Saturday night. “There’s no day but today.” It was wonderful, sad and semi-helpful.

Dan went and saw 300 with Phil.

Last night we watched the final Back to the Future. I’d never seen the sequence before and it was fabulous.

Also yesterday we were finally able to map out the checkerboard grid on our off the side of the road kitchen table. Sometime this week we’ll have to buy the pretty paint colors and next weekend we’ll start the painting!! I’m super excited about this!

Dan and I got Joe & Jen’s wedding invitation in the mail… How exciting. There were very pretty and I’m looking forward to that upcoming Sunday evening.

6 Days and Counting

Counting today it is 6 days until my best friend, Kristin leaves for Ethiopia.

She’ll be gone 8 months to 1 year and I will miss her dearly.

We had our last breakfast date this morning. It was sad.
